Nervous about your first yoga class? No worries!

At Orlando Hot Yoga & Pilates, we understand starting something new can feel intimidating. That’s why we want to make you feel comfortable and prepared for your first experience on the mat.

Here are some friendly tips to guide you through what to expect and help you feel like a natural yogi in no time!

  • Embrace the Warm Welcome: Our studio is a friendly space filled with supportive instructors and fellow yogis. Don’t hesitate to ask questions before or after class!
  • Silence is Golden: While some classes might incorporate chanting or mantras, generally, yoga classes are a time for quiet reflection. Focus on your breath and movements.
  • Find Your Flow: The instructor will guide you through various postures (asanas) throughout the class. Listen to your body and choose modifications that feel comfortable for you. Don’t worry about achieving perfect form – it’s all about progress, not perfection!
  • Respect Your Limits: Yoga is not about pushing yourself to the point of pain. If you experience any discomfort, gently come out of the pose or take a child’s pose for a rest.
  • Mind Your Mat: When arriving, choose a spot on the mat towards the back of the room if you’re new. This allows you to observe others and feel comfortable in your space.
  • Respect the Flow: Once class starts, try to arrive and leave quietly to avoid disrupting others.
  • Leave Your Shoes at the Door: We practice yoga barefoot or with grippy socks for safety and hygiene.
  • Hydration is Key: Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout your practice.
  • Silence Your Devices: Set your phone to silent mode and avoid distractions during class.
  • Enjoy the Journey: Yoga is a practice, not a competition. Focus on your breath, your body, and the present moment. Allow yourself to relax, de-stress, and embrace the benefits of yoga!

Remember, the most important thing is to feel comfortable and enjoy your first yoga class! We’re here to support you every step of the way.
